Friday Fashion Blogger Takeover

01/09/2017

back to blog

This week on Friday Fashion Blogger Takeover we have Em aka Terrible Tumbles. Em is based in Sheffield. She blogs through her own individual blog. She has a retro sense of style and looks flawless in a floral print! Check her out!

EDIT 1

How long have you been blogging?

Three years – I can’t quite believe it!

Who’s your main inspiration?

Fashion-wise, I’m a big fan of how Christina Hendricks dresses. She’s always so stylish but still manages to pull off a chic and simple look which isn’t always easy with a larger bust. I also take a lot of inspiration from women I see on instagram; @beckybarnesblog is never less than 100% cool and @monitoress is my new absolute favourite – Her style is an absolute dream!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I know most people will say somewhere exotic or romantic but I just love spending time in Spain, particularly Seville. I’m all about the food, wine and culture (Mostly the food..!)

What do you enjoy most about being a blogger?

I love the people I’ve met and the opportunities it has brought me. Spending a weekend filming a TV ad with Yours in Palma would never have happened without the blogging. Nor would I know such a huge group of incredible women. It has also opened my eyes to the experiences of other women and made me more passionate about confronting injustice head on.

Do you face any challenges with being a plus size blogger, if so how do you overcome them?

I get frustrated by the “It’s just clothes isn’t it?” conversation. I don’t think non-plus size women appreciate just how challenging finding affordable and fashionable fashion can be when you’re a non-mainstream size! I’m on the smaller side of plus which makes life infinitely easier for me than it would if I was over a size 24, this is why it’s SO important that women of all sizes are visible.

What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out as a plus size blogger?

Be inspired by others but please be yourself. My favourite bloggers are those whose voices I can almost hear when I’m reading their words. The longer you blog, the more you slip into “Blog speak” and I really miss those early days of my brain just throwing thoughts onto the page! Also, decide early on what you want from your blog – If, like me, you just want to get your thoughts out there, don’t feel obliged to “Keep up with the Joneses”

What do you love most about your body?

My legs – They are so mega long, there’s no missing them!

Do you blog full time or just as a hobby?

Blogging is a much loved hobby for me – I work full time in a much less creative role and this is very much my outlet.

And last but not least – What’s your favourite Yours Clothing piece of clothing?

These denim dungarees are so versatile – Particularly when the weather is so up and down! They look equally as good with sandals and a bardot tee as they do with trainers and a chunky jumper.
